Once you complete the final exam for the 60-hour Virginia pre-license course, your school will send your information to PSI within 5 business days.
Once PSI receives your information, you can register and schedule your state exam online through the PSI website. This is the fastest way to schedule your state exam. You must complete the following steps to register online:
1) Log onto PSI's website or create a new account. The email address, first name, and last name used for your PSI account must match exactly with the information submitted by your school. Also, be sure to check the box next to "Check here to attempt to locate existing records for you in the system".
2) You then have to select the exam you would like to take and enter in the ID# that your school submitted.
3) Your PSI record will be found and you will then be able to pay and schedule your state exam. You can enter in your zip code and a list of PSI testing centers closest to you will appear. Once you select your exam location, available dates will appear.
You also have the option to schedule your exam via mail, fax, or telephone.
If you are applying to take the Virginia state exam by reciprocity, you must first register via mail or fax by using the Examination Registration Form located at the end of the PSI Candidate Information Bulletin. You must submit a copy of your current real estate license and include the $60 exam fee with your registration form. Once PSI receives your registration form, they will mail you a Registration Confirmation Notice, at which time you can schedule your state exam online or by phone at (800)733-9267. It takes PSI up to 2 weeks to process your registration form via mail and 4 days via fax.
Please note that if you are applying to take the state exam via reciprocity, you only have to take the state portion of the exam. The Real Estate Board will waive the national portion of the exam.
If you are applying to take the state exam with a permission letter from the Board, you must follow the same steps as if you were applying via reciprocity; however, you will have to must submit a copy of the permission letter in place of a copy of a current real estate license. You also must take both portions of the state exam, instead of just the state portion.
