Can I get my Oregon broker license if I have a prior conviction?

Oregon requires all broker applicants to submit fingerprints for a state and national criminal records background check. According to state statutes, a broker license “may be granted only to an individual who is trustworthy and competent to conduct professional real estate activity in a manner that protects the public interest. As a condition of licensing, the commissioner may require proof of competence and trustworthiness that the commissioner deems necessary to protect the public interest.”

If you are concerned about a prior conviction as grounds for denial, contact the Oregon Real Estate Agency before applying by calling (503) 378-4170 or emailing orea.info@oregon.gov.
