How do I renew my Texas real estate license?

All Texas real estate licenses must be renewed every two years.

TREC will send you a renewal notice around 90 days prior to your license expiration date.

You can renew your license online using TREC’s Online Services. You also have the option of submitting a Renewal Form for Real Estate Sales Agents and Brokers by mail.

Along with your renewal application, you will have to pay a $110 renewal fee, plus a $20 paper filing fee if you mail in your renewal application.

Prior to submitting your renewal application, you must complete the following:

  • 90 hours of Salesperson Apprentice Education (SAE) for all first-time renewals only.
  • 18 hours of continuing education for all subsequent renewals.
  • All licensees must complete the 4-hour Legal Update 1 and 4-hour Legal Update 2 courses (these two courses may be included in the 18 hours of required continuing education).
  • If you have been made a supervisor by your broker for more than 6 months, you must also complete the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course (this course may also count towards the required 18 hours of continuing education).

You should submit your renewal application and all course completion documents to TREC at least 10 prior to your renewal date.

Also, if you were not previously fingerprinted, you must do so through MorphoTrust.
