I just passed my ID real estate exam. What are the next steps?

Congratulations on passing the Idaho real estate salesperson licensing exam. You will want to concurrently do two things. First, make sure you get your fingerprints taken to run the background check for your license. Background checks can take from one week to 12 weeks to process and are good for six months. At the same time, you will want to be interviewing and be hired by an Idaho licensed broker. You must be hired by a broker who will activate your license.

Make sure you sign up for the Idaho Real Estate Commission Online Services. Here you will be able to track your license history and check on your fingerprinting status. You can submit your application until your background check clears. Once your background check clears, go ahead and submit your license application. Make sure you purchase errors and omissions insurance and show proof of coverage with your application.

The Idaho Real Estate Commission will issue you a license on inactive status. Your hiring broker will go online to activate your license.
