Can I get my WA broker license if I have a past arrest or conviction?

Before your license can be issued, you will need to answer a series of criminal and history and character assessment questions. A criminal record could impact your ability to get, or renew, a license.

If you answer “yes” to any of the questions in the criminal history section of your license application, you will need to explain, providing the date, location, offense, case number, results and any other related details for each incident. You will have the opportunity to upload any documents that help to explain your particular situation.

The Washington State Licensing Department will look in detail at the type of crime, level of conviction, the relevance to real estate and the length of time since the conviction. You may be asked to provide additional information.
