What should I do if I have a prior conviction?

You must disclose any past or pending criminal activity to the DRE as part of your license application.
If you fail to do so, your license application will most likely be denied.
That being said, you may still obtain a real estate license if you have a prior conviction. The DRE will review your specific case and determine if you are eligible to receive a real estate license.
We recommend that you read the Avoid Potential Denial of Your License Application document prior to pursuing a real estate license.
