How does one renew a Missouri real estate salesperson license?

Missouri real estate licensees can renew their real estate license online if the Missouri Real Estate Commission has not yet received the applicant’s most up-to-date information, including evidence of the completion of continuing education credits. When the applicant’s information has been updated online, it is important to wait at least 72 hours for this information to populate throughout the Missouri Real Estate Commission’s database and website.

The Missouri Real Estate Commission sends reminder notices to those individuals who have licenses that will be expiring soon. This notice is generally sent about 1 to 2 months before the license expires and includes a PIN number, which is needed when a Missouri real estate licensee chooses to renew their license online.

Note: any applicant who knowingly renews their real estate license in Missouri with incorrect information can potentially be found guilty of violating Missouri regulations. Follow the Online Renewal Instructions on Pages 3 and 4.

Additionally, Missouri real estate licensees have the option of renewing their licenses by mail.

Each active salesperson license or inactive salesperson license expires on September 30 of even-numbered years. Brokers, corporations, or partnership licenses expire on June 30 of even-numbered years. Missouri Board Rule 2250-4.030(1)(A, B).

The MREC provides online renewal instructions for real estate licensees.

Any Missouri real estate licensee who does not renew their license will no longer be allowed to practice real estate in Missouri because the license is null and void. To practice real estate without a license would represent a violation of Missouri license law. Individuals must requalify as a new applicant to begin practicing real estate again. MREC Board Rule CSR 2250-4.020 (2).
