What examinations do I need to take to get my NC license?

You will need to take a final course exam for your 75-hour pre-license required coursework, as well as the North Carolina real estate license exam. The state license exam consists of two distinct sections: a national portion and a state portion.

Prior to making your application, you will be required to achieve satisfactory scoring on a closed-book, proctored exam taken at completion of the 75-hour North Carolina Broker pre-licensing course. You must achieve a passing grade of 75% and have at least 80% class attendance to receive the required Official Certificate of Course Completion signed by the school director.

The state licensing exam includes two distinct parts: a national section and a state section. The national portion of the test consists of 80 multiple-choice questions. You must answer 57 of the 80 scored questions correctly to pass this section of the exam.

The state portion of the exam has 40 multiple-choice questions. You will need to answer 29 of the 40 scored questions correctly to pass this section of the exam.

You will need to pass both sections of the state licensing exam unless you have qualified for, and received, a waiver for all or part of it.
